One of the most prestigious commissions we have ever had – and certainly one of the biggest! – was from world-famous fashion house Burberry. We had a multiple order from them for several giant cold air-filled Burberry Bear inflatables.
Burberry’s new creative director Riccardo Tisci has redesigned the company’s logo. He has now intertwined the initials of the founder – Thomas Burberry – with rescaled Burberry check. Burberry then asked us to make these 10 meter high inflatable Bears in this exciting print.
Consequently, we spent many hours with Burberry making sure we got the shape just right and most importantly the print. The design is very complex and is repeated all over the Burberry Bear inflatables.
Installing the Burberry Bear around the World
They wanted to launch the new logo to coincide with New York Fashion Week and then London Fashion Week. At the same time Burberry wanted to display another 10 meter tall bear in Shanghai too. So we shipped them abroad to New York and Shanghai and local crews on the ground installed them. They did a really great job. Don’t they look fantastic?!
Our own ABC Inflatables team from Banbury installed the 10 meter tall London Bear. He sat on a one meter high plinth next to Marble Arch. And he certainly attracted a huge amount of attention. Everyone loved him!
As with all the Burberry Bear inflatables, the London one was up for the duration of Fashion Week. Then we de-rigged him the morning after – deflated, but job well done!
The bears certainly garnered tremendous publicity for Burberry, especially on Social Media. Now every fashionista, and many other people around the world, now know all about Riccardo Tisci’s first collection. It was really great to be such an integral part of the global launch of the new Burberry logo.
