One of the highlights of our year is working to create fantastic custom inflatables for the annual Lord Mayor’s Show. This year we were delighted to assist the Worshipful Company of Paviors with an inflatable pig, and the Automobile Association with inflatable membership cards!
The Paviors are a livery company of the City of London with medieval origins. The earliest records from 1280 show the Paviors were first made responsible for the repair and cleaning of London’s streets and pavements. In the modern world, they represent craftsmen involved in all aspects of the construction, maintenance and management of all paved surfaces.
We were very pleased to be asked to make a huge inflatable pig for them but we did have one overwhelming question – why a pig?!
The Paviors were responsible for keeping the City’s streets clean in medieval times. This included rounding up wandering livestock, many of which were pigs belonging to St Anthony’s Hospitallers and marked by a bell round their necks.
We loved that story and agreed upon an attractive and clever design for their parade inflatable – the pig wearing a bell, symbolises the historical connection with the City of London. It also wears a hard hat signifying the Pavior’s modern paving activities. The Worshipful Company’s crest is prominently displayed on the side of the pig.
Doesn’t he look great? The Paviors were absolutely thrilled with their St Anthony’s Pig and so were we. We really enjoy these custom inflatable projects, bringing to life our client’s ideas and helping them tell their own special stories.
The Automobile Association also had some great thoughts for their parade inflatables. We agreed on a very simple but really eye-catching design – large inflatable membership cards, in the instantly recognisable yellow and black brand colours of the AA. They certainly drew the crowd’s attention to the AA’s float in the parade.
Both these custom inflatable projects were helium-filled, making them extremely easy and fuss-free for our clients to manage. They can also be re-used time and time again and many of the parade inflatable we have created for the Lord Mayor’s Show make regular appearances every year!
